Product Overview

EZ Upgrade makes upgrading your notebook hard drive as easy at 1-2-3.

Designed for the latest generation of notebooks utilizing Serial ATA (SATA) hard drives, EZ Upgrade SATA makes upgrading your notebook's hard drive fast and easy. This innovative kit includes all the hardware and software needed to painlessly transfer all the data - applications, documents, address books, email, settings, OS, and preferences - from the old hard drive to a new drive, in three easy steps.

THREE SIMPLE STEPS TO UPGRADE YOUR NOTEBOOK HARD DRIVE

STEP 1: Slide the new hard drive into the EZ Upgrade enclosure, using the included USB cable, connect the EZ Upgrade to the notebook’s USB port.
STEP 2: Run EZ Gig II’s cloning utility by booting to the CD, follow the prompts.
STEP 3: Finally, install the new hard drive into the notebook.

Once the new drive is installed, the old drive can be used in EZ Upgrade’s Hi-Speed USB 2.0 enclosure for external storage. When used with EZ Gig II, the external drive becomes a state-of-the-art backup solution.

EZ Gig II Upgrade & Backup software gives the user two options to upgrade or backup their data. Disk Clone creates an exact clone of a hard drive and is perfect for upgrading hard drives, or for a creating a Disaster Recovery clone - the ultimate backup solution.

Disk Image is the ideal backup tool. EZ Gig II creates a compressed “image” of an entire hard drive, or an individual partition of a hard drive. At its maximum setting, Disk Image can compress data up to 1/2 its original size, allowing backups to be made to a smaller hard drive, or multiple backups to a large hard drive. EZ Gig II also provides password protection for backup images, a comments field so each image can be labeled and easily identified, and verification that the image is complete. The EZ Gig II File Editor allows editing or restoration of individual files or folders.

The Magical Drive UpgradeBy Agam Shah
Upgrading and transferring data from a notebook's internal hard drive to a second drive is child's play with Apricorn's EZ Upgrade SATA, a Serial ATA hard-drive upgrade kit. The kit ships with all the tools you need to successfully install a notebook hard drive: a USB 2.0 enclosure, a USB cable, a PS/2 auxiliary power cable for backup power, and proprietary upgrade and recovery software.

The kit lets you upgrade a notebook hard drive in three steps, according to Apricorn spokesperson Jennifer Olson. First, slide the new hard drive into an EZ Upgrade enclosure, and connect the cable to the notebook's USB port (which accommodates the old hard drive). Then boot the machine with Apricorn's EZ Gig II Upgrade and Disaster Recovery Software, which begins the drive-cloning process. Finally, remove the old drive from the notebook and replace it with the new, cloned drive. Voila--the fresh drive is installed and ready to work.

Afterward you can use the old drive as a backup device.

The kit shipped in June and is available for the reasonable price of $49. It works only with Windows 2000 and Windows XP systems.
