Add Dual Solid State Drives and SATA III to Take Your Desktop PC or Mac Pro's® Performance to New Heights
Upgrade your system to the latest SATA III interface (6Gbs) and two high-speed SSDs to boost its performance to the max.
Simple to install and with PCIe 2.0 data transfer speeds up to 800 MB/sec, the Velocity Duo x2 gives your desktop a whole new gear with Dual SSDs (RAID 0) and super-fast SATA III connections. The Velocity Duo utilizes a Marvell 9230 chipset and is bootable in both PC and Mac systems.

Easy Installation
The Velocity Duo takes just minutes to install. Simply snap your Solid State Drives to the Velocity Duo's SATA connectors, secure them with the provided mounting screws, then slide the card into any available PCIe slot (x2 or larger.) Once installed, transfer your OS and applications from your desktop hard drive to your new SSDs using Apricorn’s EZ Gig cloning software for PC systems, or for the Mac Pro use Apple's built-in Disk Utility.

Ideal for High-Performance Applications and Improved Gaming Performance
Running your OS and applications on an SSD provides a measureable performance increase, but the Velocity Duo is the ultimate upgrade for improving gaming performance.

SSDs Improve Game Performance - As games become too large for their assets to be fully cached on modern graphics cards and main memory, the addition of two SSDs brings faster disk access during game play and greatly eliminates in-game pauses for a smoother playing experience. Games are also faster to load and save with two SSDs.

Boots in an instant, opens applications in a flash, and slashes read/write times

Velocity Duo fits PCIe 2.0 x2 slots and larger

Blending Performance and Capacity – Apricorn’s EZ Gig Cloning Software with Data Select makes it easy

The Velocity Duo is bundled with Apricorn’s EZ Gig Cloning software with Data Select. Data Select provides a simple method to deselect data folders from the cloning process which is helpful when migrating from a large HDD to a smaller SSD and perfect for creating a Boot Disk. This gives you the option to run your OS and applications from a fast, smaller SSD boot drive, while keeping your documents and media files on your original hard drive.

EZ Gig enables you to clone your hard drive in just three simple steps

Step 1
Select your Source drive

This is your computer’s internal drive and is denoted by the prefix IDE

Step 2
Select your Destination drive

This is your SSD connected to your computer by Apricorn’s Velocity Duo

  Optional
Data Select tool

Select any folders you wish to exclude from the clone, such as photos, videos, music or documents. This is helpful when migrating from a large HDD to a smaller SSD or when creating a Boot Disk.

Step 3
Press the "Start Clone" button

EZ Gig will clone everything (with the exception of any folders your deselected) to the SSD drives on the Velocity Duo. It really is that simple

Ask Question

What does a PCI-e slot look like?

The Velocity Solo can be used in any of the slots shown below.

What is the difference in data rate between PCIe 1.0 and PCIe 2.0?

Version 1 has a max data rate of 250 MB/s and Version 2 has a max rate of 500MB/s.

What are the ECCN and HST codes used for shipping this device outside the US?

ECCN: 5A992A and HTS code 8473.50.3000

Can the Velocity Duo be used in a Mac?

Yes, but only in Mac Pro 3,1; 4,1; and 5,1. The EFI BIOS of the Macintosh hardware does not display legacy BIOS devices during boot up and will not display the CTRL M from the Marvell controller. If the Velocity DUO is pre-configured on a PC with a BIOS and then placed in a Macintosh, then OSX will see the configured array as a single disk. You will be able to format and use the RAID as a Macintosh disk. If the Velocity DUO is not configured in the BIOS then the Macintosh running OSX will see each drive on the DUO independently. In this case use the Disk Utility to create the RAID. To create a RAID 0 using Disk Utility select 'Striped RAID Set' during creation.

Do I have to use the Apricorn EZ GIG software with my Velocity Duo?

No. Apricorn provides EZ GIG as easy to use software intended to clone your existing operating system to a disk attached to the Velocity Duo. You are not restricted from using any other software.

How fast is SATA III?

SATA I max uncoded transfer rate is 150 MB/s (Megabytes per second), SATA II is 300 MB/s and SATA III is 600 MB/s. Most spinning disks cannot deliver data faster than SATA II and for this reason, Apricorn recommends using high speed Solid State Disks with the Velocity Duo x2 to achieve the greatest performance.

What kind of drives can be used with the Velocity Duo?

Any 2.5 SATA hard drives can be attached on the card and It will work with both Generation 1 and 2 SATA drives but best performance is seen with Gen 2 or SSD drives.
