To burn an ISO, you will need software that is capable of burning the image back into a CD. Windows 7 has a built-in ISO burner, but older operating systems will require 3rd party software to accomplish the task. Burn programs (such as Nero or Roxio) have built in ISO burners but not all burning programs will have this feature. Below is a link that will help explain how to burn ISO files with several different pieces of software. There are also links for good freeware ISO burning programs if you do not already have one.

Advanced Features

Verify Copy: Compares the data of source and destination after copying. If verify copy is chosen, the free areas between partitions will also be copied. This option offers the possibility to synchronize the data of the source and destination drives after the copying process.

Resize Partitions: EZ Gig IV gives you three options when creating your clone: automatically resizing partitions to the new drive, keeping the partition sizes the same or allowing you to manually resize your partitions

SmartCopy: SmartCopy enables you to clone your file systems in a fraction of time usually required.

Reporting features: Once your clone is complete, EZ Gig IV's final report will outline the number of sector copied, read errors, write errors and if verified, will also report verification errors.

My elderly mothers' hard drive decided to stop working, so I came to the rescue (so I thought). After wasting two entire days and the better part of a third, I decided to visit my neighborhood electronics store and see if I might get some advice from one of their techies, but before anyone came to my assistance, I happened across this little gem... Apricorn’s "Notebook Hard Drive Upgrade Kit". Included in the kit are an exceptionally nice hard drive enclosure, a USB to mini-USB cable, and their "EZ Gig III for Windows" software, along with a suite of other software products designed especially for cloning. This product, in addition to some sound advice from Brandon at Apricorn, resulted in a rewarding experience replacing my first-ever hard drive. I didn't have to reload the operating system, any software, or any data. I couldn't be more pleased (and my mother was quite excited, too). Thank you!

I purchased the Drive Wire kit from Microcenter. It came with EZ-Gig III. I was upgrading a 160GB 4200RPM HD on my Compaq laptop. I had read in another review that the HP & Compaq didn't like some earlier versions of EZ-Gig so I downloaded EZ-Gig IV from your sight. I ran it right from windows and it cloned to a 500GB 7200RPM Seagate flawlessly in about 55 minutes; no read or write erros. I took my old drive out & put the new one in and it booted right up as if nothing had changed. Now I just have way more space on a much faster drive. I thought about manually adjusting the partitions using the software right before cloning but thought I would just give it a go on the automatic setting. Like I said, it worked great. The only thing I would change is that the recovery partion went from 10GB on the old drive to 30GB on the new drive which is really bigger than I need but otherwise, perfect. Thanks for the Great Product!

How does EZ Gig clone if the Source and Destination drives are of EQUAL size?

If source and target are of the same size, EZ Gig creates an absolutely identical copy(clone). On this clone, all sectors on source and target, from the first to the last sector, are 100% identical, provided that the process was error-free.

How does EZ Gig clone if the Source drive is SMALLER than the Destination drive?

If the source is smaller than the target, EZ Gig copies only the data that is available on the source. This data is copied from the beginning of the source onto the beginning of the target medium. The area at the end of the target medium, which is larger than the source, remains unaffected. Apart from that the unaffected area remains possibly unused during a later usage, such a copy is usually comparable to a real clone as far as the capacity of use is concerned because the target contains entirely all data of the source.

How does EZ Gig clone if the Source drive is LARGER than the Destination drive?

If the source is bigger than the target, EZ Gig will direct you to the Data Select feature. EZ Gig’s Data Select provides a simple method to deselect data folders from the cloning process. EZ Gig will only allow to proceed with the clone, once the available capacity on the target drive is a positive value.
